OVERVIEW

Esthetics Dental Studio is a dental laboratory in Houston, TX. providing services locally and also serving other states.

The client had the feeling that their previous website wasn’t reflecting the quality of work and professionalism they provided to their clients.

So, they contacted me and asked for help to do a complete website overhaul.

Their vision was to have a professional and functional website that would represent their brand and the quality of work they offer. At the same time they wanted to be recognized as one of the top premium laboratories in Houston.

Mobile Design

THE NEED

A completely new website redesign to match the current web design standards and trends.

THE SOLUTION

The main focus was on making sure the new website was accessible to every generation.

By developing a responsive design, we reassured that the site was designed for a multitude of devices with different screen sizes. Automatically adjusting the layout of their content to the available screen size, making the website responsive, easy to read, and easy to navigate.

We also used a slightly adjusted color palette, new photography, and new layouts.

The Starting Point

Branding Colors

My starting point was to create a three-color combination color palette based on the color of their existing logo.

That was enough to create variation and visual interest.

Color Scheme

In order to create a professional-looking color scheme, I took a few tones, tints, and shades of a giving color. In this case, the predominant color of our client logo is black.

Created a triadic color scheme where the colors are equally spaced around the color wheel.  Incorporating four-color to create secondary elements that could be self-identified as CTAs or secondary buttons.

Navigation

Navigation challenges can be approached in a number of ways. Every website presents its own challenges, the good news is that there are ways of thinking about and organizing content that minimizes the risk of failure.

Content First

Content it’s the backbone of website usability.

Keep it Simple

  • Content highlights – blurbs and images
  • Clarity of purpose – service pages
  • Call to action – sales funnel
  • Credibility factors – testimonials
  • Lead magnets – email opt-ins

Content Organization

Organizing the website’s content for mobile it’s always one of my first priorities, to meet the needs of mobile users. One of the most challenging and complex elements of designing for mobile is asking the question, how content should be organized?

Mobile users’ needs are different from those using a laptop or desktop. Browsing behaviors will vary depending on which device it’s been used.

Web Development Case Study

Mobile devices are usually used in portrait orientation, so we stacked content vertically to fit the narrow widths of mobile devices.
